Lodge Amounderness No.7105, named after the Ancient Hundred of Amounderness located in the Fylde region of Lancashire. The Lodge has thrived and prospered in Preston for over fifty years, meeting originally at the Bull and Royal Hotel and for the last thirty years at the Masonic Temple, Ashlar House, Saul Street. Lodge Amounderness was originally founded to provide an opportunity for more rapid advancement through a Lodge’s offices of those brethren ‘of the learned professions’ whose daily avocations meant re-location to ‘pastures new’ was often something of a disadvantage to masonic promotion. To assist in this avowed aim the Stewards of the Lodge have always been Grand Officers and whilst carrying out the traditional functions of stewarding most admirably, they undoubtedly facilitate a more rapid progression to the chair.
The Lodge maintains its connections with the Fylde, drawing many of its members, frequently of the medical or legal persuasion, from that area. Meetings being held only four times in the year ( the fourth Wednesday of January, April, September and November) provide yet another attractive feature for the busy modern professional.
Although renowned for the quality of its ritual to the extent that many senior masons of the Province of West Lancashire including Provincial Grand Masters, have enjoyed membership throughout its history, the Lodge has always been a focus for friendly enjoyment within its ranks and has never been afraid of the spirit of innovation and humour.
The Lodges alumni through the years have included many individuals eminent in their chosen fields including the Church, education, business, law, local government and medicine, all greatly adding to the pleasure of those who enjoy the company of their peers and who consider themselves privileged to be members.
