Putting their best foot forward

This year’s annual sponsored group walk was hosted by Carnforth Lodge No 4951 and attracted over 35 walkers, who together with a number of our canine friends enjoyed the warm and bright weather which accompanied their endeavours.

This happy band of ramblers were given a choice of two walks to pick from, both commencing at Kerneforde Hall, Carnforth. The organiser of the event was Stephen Horrocks, who led a number of the more adventurous walkers, including group vice chairman Neil McGill and group secretary Scott Devine, on a nine-mile hike across the rolling countryside surrounding Carnforth, whilst Stephen Plevey led another contingent on a much shorter route, involving a lovely walk along the canal and the shore line of Morecambe Bay.

Both walks ended up back at Kerneforde Hall, were a wonderful repast had been laid out by Carnforth Lodge members and their families. No event would be complete without a raffle, with the honour of drawing the winning ticket being given to the youngest walker of the day, Stewart and Laura Aimson’s two-year-old daughter, following which, and too much applause, she proceeded to pick out her own family’s ticket – nice one Lexi. The raffle raised £110.

Grateful appreciation was shown to Stephen Horrocks from Carnforth Lodge for arranging such a wonderful and very successful day.
