That was just one of the questions that caused puzzled looks on the faces of the many folk who were gathered for a social evening at the Bare Village Club, Morecambe. If that question was a little tricky, the one that followed it was just as likely to tax even the most ardent trivia expert. By what name is Oscar Zoroaster Phadrig Isaac Norman Henkle Emmannuel Ambroise Diggs better known?
The good news is that these and other perplexing questions were being asked in aid of a very good cause. The event was in fact a Charity Quiz Night organised by Stewart Aimson on behalf of Vale Lodge No 5256, Duke of Lancaster Lodge No 1353 and the Lancastrians ‘Light Blues’ Club.
The function room was filled to near capacity as Masons, partners, friends and family were tested by Stewart on a range of topics as diverse as Walt Disney films and famous graduates or alumni of Lancaster University.
At the half way point, the participants tucked into a very substantial buffet that provided enough mental fuel to last them to the evening’s conclusion. Indeed, the questions were so well averaged that a mere couple of points separated the top three teams. A charity raffle produced a total in excess of £200 which will be boosted further when a Charity Race Night will be similarly hosted later in the year.
